Submission Requirements:

We require the following:

Your Entire Manuscript

A properly formatted manuscript, preferably 50-200 pages in length, with a max of 350 pages (1 page = 250 words). We only accept .doc, .docx, and .pdf files, with a preference toward Word documents for ease of reviewing.  Please make sure your cover page contains all necessary contact information.

A Cover/Query Letter

Tell us about your work, including the genre, your intended audience, the length of the work, and other standard query information.

A $10 Submission Fee

We are a small press and a non-profit corporation. You may be wondering, "Didn't BhB have an incremental fee and in-depth feedback before?"  We did.  However, after we turned to Submittable, we began receiving an exponentially greater number of submissions.  We will still provide comments on all submissions, but not all the comments will be as extensive as "Before Submittable." We apologize for having to make this change to our feedback, but we think you will be pleased with the $10-across-the-board submission fee.

After We Review Your Submission

If you are accepted, our usual press run is 100 – 1,200 copies, of which the author receives 20, along with BHB’s sales and review support.

Thank you, and we hope to hear from you soon!

As a poet, you may also be interested in submitting to one of our imprints: Stonewall or the New Poets Series. These imprints might be better suited for your work, and have different submission requirements.  You may also want to enter one of our competitions.  Visit our Submittable page or our website for more information.

Thank you for your interest in publishing with BrickHouse Books' imprint, the New Poets Series!

During busy submission seasons, our reply times increase.  Please allow up to 6 months for a reply.  After that period, please follow up with us via our Contact page.

What We Accept:
This division of BrickHouse Books is devoted to the publication of first books by promising poets who have never had a collection of poems of over 30 pages published. Please note that chapbooks do not disqualify poets from being “new,” but full-length books do. Chapbooks are 42 pages  or fewer. Books are 43 pages and above.

Submitting to the New Poets Series imprint is slightly different from submitting directly to BHB.

Submission Requirements:

We require the following:

Your Entire Manuscript

A properly formatted manuscript of original poetry, 42-150 pages in length.  We only accept .doc or .docx files sent as an email attachment.  Do not paste your ms into the body of your email. Make sure your title page includes all necessary contact information.

A Cover/Query Letter

Tell us about your work, including your intended audience, the length of the work, and other standard query information.  Be sure to tell us you are submitting to the New Poets Series imprint and why.
